Sound and Vibration Lab

Sound & Vibration Lab helps engineering students to analyze, refine and optimize the noise and vibration of a system under development, from the component- up to the system-level. It allows engineers to validate and further improve simulation models from components to system level analysis. Techlabs collaborated with National Instruments to give institutions the highly innovative sound & vibration analysis software. This can help students to have a hands-on experience on the latest techniques of analyzing the sounds and vibration at system-level.

National Instruments LabVIEW

Techlabs offers LabVIEW; an easy-to-use, interactive, graphical programming language that helps users write sophisticated programs and applications in a shorter amount of time without needing a computer science degree. In school, LabVIEW helps busy students and researchers work more efficiently. After graduation, LabVIEW skills help students to make a bright career in the technological solution industries across the globe. It is a cornerstone that helps students to learn methods and procedure important for experimental investigation of mechanical engineering phenomena and systems.

National Instruments Sound & Vibration Toolkit

The NI Sound and Vibration Toolkit extends NI LabVIEW graphical development with functions and indicators for handling audio measurements, fractional-octave analysis, swept-sine analysis, sound level measurements, frequency analysis, frequency response measurements, transient analysis, and several sound and vibration displays. It also includes the new NI Sound and Vibration Assistant stand-alone, interactive software for quickly acquiring, analyzing, and logging acoustic, noise, and vibration data. With a configuration-based, flexible measurement library and open-analysis capability, the Sound and Vibration Assistant is designed for quick data capture through a unique software-based measurement approach to create customized applications.

The Sound and Vibration Assistant offers the ability to continually interact with live data, so you can vary analysis settings on the fly while logging data to disk for more analysis later. For example, you can vary the weighting and bandwidth of an octave spectrum while recording sound level data or adjust the window applied to a power spectrum while trending overall vibration readings. With Universal File Format (UFF58) file I/O support, you can acquire data from 24-bit NI dynamic signal acquisition (DSA) devices, including USB DSAs, and then share it easily between other commonly used sound and vibration analysis applications including modal analysis software.

Features:

  • Stand-alone configuration-based analysis and data logging with the Sound and Vibration Assistant
  • AES17-compliant audio filter signal processing
  • Easy-to-use power spectrum, swept sine, and octave analysis steps
  • Sound level with A-, B-, or C-weighting and vibration level with integration
  • Audio measurements including THD, SNR, SINAD, and swept-sine analysis
  • Universal File Format (UFF58) file I/O support
